This advanced course about the complexities of boundary crossing and nonsexual and nonexploitative dual relationships in psychotherapy, will guide therapists through the complexities of boundary crossings in therapy, including issues of self-disclosure, gifts, nonsexual touch, bartering, home-offices, home visits, teleheatlh (E-Therapy), etc. It will outline how boundary crossings and dual relationships relate to issues such as exploitation, power, sexual relationships, familiarity, transference and countertransference, community relationships, effective therapy, treatment plans, etc. The course will cover issues of boundaries and the standard of care; ethical, clinical and legal considerations; ethical decision-making process; an update on California law; and much more. Ofer Zur, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist, instructor, forensic and ethics consultant, and expert witness in private psychotherapy practice in Sonoma, California. He is director of the Zur Institute, which offers innovative and challenging continuing education online for psychologists, social workers and counselors. His teaching and writing focuses on ethics, critical thinking, boundaries, dual relationships and the creation of managed-care-free private practices. He taught at graduate schools for many years, and his books include Dual Relationships and Psychotherapy (2002, coedited with Arnold Lazarus), HIPAA Compliance Kit (2005), The Complete Fee-for-Service Private Practice Handbook (2005), and Boundaries in Psychotherapy (2007). |
