As part of our annual Speaker Series, The Psychotherapy Institute brings notable thinkers and researchers in the field of psychology to the Bay Area. It is an opportunity for the therapist community to hear first-hand about new and significant developments that affect and enliven our profession and practice.

This year The Psychotherapy Institute is very excited to present New York Times best selling author Harriet Lerner at our annual Spring Speaker Series.

Dr. Lerner will illustrate a systemic model of human emotional functioning and elaborate on the essential components of finding courage and voice in the most difficult relational circumstances. Drawing on key concepts in her books and clinical vignettes, she will present the specific steps required to help our clients (and ourselves) engage in bold new conversations that lower emotional reactivity, promote differentiation of self, and create a more complex and accurate view of the self, the other, and the possibilities in relationships.

Harriet Lerner, Ph.D., is the author of(The Dance of Anger, and other books including Women in Therapy, and most recently The Dance of Fear) Dr. Lerner's books have been translated into more than thirty foreign editions. For more than three decades Dr. Lerner was a staff psychologist and psychotherapist at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, and a faculty member in the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry. A distinguished lecturer and workshop leader, she currently has a private practice in Lawrence, Kansas.

Please join us for a wonderful morning of stimulating discussion with Dr. Lerner.
