The vast majority of fundraising for The Psychotherapy Institute takes place at the local level—through member donations, membership dues, and events held by the Institute, such as educational and creative networking opportunities. In addition, there are many opportunities to support TPI by offering your unique skills or volunteering on one or more of TPI’s committees.
Here are some ways you can support TPI:
Take a Workshop
Each calendar year, The Psychotherapy Institute offers two major presentations in the Spring and Fall. In addition, various smaller creative workshops are offered by the Institute in order to assist therapists in gaining their annual licensure CE credits.

Become a Member
You can become a member of The Psychotherapy Institute. Membership dues provide a significant source of funding for the Institute; they help sustain programs and events that support the connectedness of our professional community. Benefits of membership are great—ranging from access to a supportive professional community to discounted course fees to receipt of our informative bimonthly newsletter, Viewpoint.
Join a Committee
Many people volunteer their time at The Psychotherapy Institute. TPI’s various committees—the groups that complete the many tasks essential to our programs and events—are made up almost entirely of volunteer members. Volunteer opportunities vary depending on the needs of each committee. If you are interested in joining a committee, please send an email message to: ksduncan@tpi-berkeley.org.
Make a Donation
The Psychotherapy Institute offers quality education and psychotherapy to our community, thanks to the support of generous individual donors. We welcome all levels of donation—one-time gifts, monthly or annual donations, legacy gifts, and matching-gift programs.
Call 510-548-2250 to make a donation.
Offer a Service
Maybe you are skilled at arranging flowers and could showcase your designs at a station event. Maybe you can offer graphic design skills or grant-writing experience. Donating services like these allows The Psychotherapy Institute to reduce its costs and is a significant way to support the Institute. If you'd like to share a skill or offer a service, please email us at: ksduncan@tpi-berkeley.org.
Contribute to Our Endowment
The Psychotherapy Institute is in the process of setting up an endowment gift program so that donors will be able to specify named endowment funds, program funds, producer chairs, or even maintenance funds as the recipient of their donations. More importantly, donors will be able to support quality education and psychotherapy at the Institute for years to come. If you are interested in setting up an endowment gift, please email our Executive Director at ksduncan@tpi-berkeley.org or call 510-548-4407.
Make a Major Gift
The Psychotherapy Institute is in the process of setting up a major-giving program, which will enable individuals to offer unrestricted, philanthropic support in larger amounts (typically more than $1,000.00). Major gifts sustain the ongoing, strategic efforts of the Institute. If you are interested in setting up a major-giving program, please email our Executive Director at ksduncan@tpi-berkeley.org or call 510-548-4407.
Create a Giving Plan
A planned-giving program is being formalized. By creating a giving plan, you can leave a powerful legacy, ensure the future financial stability of the Institute, ensure that quality psychotherapeutic education continues to be offered, and sustain affordable psychotherapy for low-income clients. If you are interested in setting up a planned-giving program, please email our Executive Director at ksduncan@tpi-berkeley.org or call 510-548-4407.
