Treatment for Hoarding Disorder
Hoarding Disorder (HD) is a recently identified mental health condition with a prevalence rate of 2-5% among adults in the U.S. and Europe. It commonly co-occurs with depression, PTSD, and other anxiety disorders. This means treatment seekers for these mental health conditions may simultaneously have HD.
This workshop is an extension of the course on the contributing factors and diagnostic consideration for HD offered by Dr. Chou in 2020 through TPI. In this new workshop focusing on treatment, participants will learn about the frameworks and be introduced to the core therapeutic techniques in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy for Hoarding. The workshop will contain a mixture of didactic, experiential, and interactive exercises. Participants will leave the training with frameworks to help conduct HD case formulation, and tools to respond to immediate symptom-related issues and deeper root problems.
Course Objectives:
- Participants will be able to conduct hoarding case formulation and treatment plans.
- Participants will be able to apply some techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for hoarding.
- Participants will be able to apply some techniques of Compassion-Focused Therapy for hoarding.
