Annual TPI Colloquium
20/20 Supervision: What is Essential for Psychodynamic Supervision in the Next Decade
The Supervisors’ Committee invites TPI supervisors and mentors to this year’s Colloquium, at which members of the Committee will facilitate a structured exercise to gather our collective wisdom about the future of psychodynamic supervision. This will be an intimate, fun, and thought- provoking process in which everyone’s voice is heard. As we head into the 2020s we consider our psychodynamic traditions, how supervision has evolved over past decades, and what it means to practice and teach psychotherapy at this moment in time. By using a small group generative exercise, we hope to foster an open exchange among varied personal approaches and experiences about what we each see as vital for thoughtful Psychodynamic Supervision. We hope you can join us at this free event designed specifically for TPI supervisors and mentors. Free CEs, and a luncheon will be provided to appreciate the mentoring and supervising faculty.
The colloquium is designed to help TPI faculty:
- List at least three critical elements of performing Psychodynamic Supervision.
- Describe three ethical dilemmas around conducting Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in the current socio-political times.
- Name and demonstrate methods for facilitating open, generative conversation among people of varied perspectives.
- Learn to recognize reactions to differing opinions and how these can inform interventions used in supervision and in the therapist-client dyad.
