Clinical and Ethical Issues for Families Experiencing a Gender Affirming Transition
Families have a powerful influence on the physical and mental health of gender diverse clients, and likewise a gender affirming transition can profoundly impact the family system. This didactic and interactive course will move the participants beyond Transgender 101 concepts to an understanding of how a social and/or medical gender transition of a child or adult can impact families of diverse social locations, identities, and experience. Clinical issues that arise for both gender diverse clients and their families, as well as the resilience building strategies that help families navigate the process as a cohesive and loving unit will be explored.
This class fulfills the BBS Ethical/Legal CE requirement.
