Working with Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse: Somatic, Relational, and Political Perspectives

Working with adult survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) can be a powerful, yet bewildering experience. Clinicians are invited to feel intense and confusing emotions and often find themselves in unexpected or uncomfortable transference-countertransference configurations. This course will explore and compare relational and somatic perspectives on working with CSA survivors, while considering current and historical, cultural and politicized perspectives on sexual violence.

Laura NorthrupLaura Northrup, MFT, is a somatic and relationally oriented psychotherapist practicing in Oakland, CA. She specializes in working with survivors of sexual violence and incorporates a politicized lens into her clinical work. Some of her past experience includes supporting community-based transformative justice responses to sexual violence with The Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective and teaching early career therapists how to build and market a successful
private practice. For more information, you can visit her website: www.lauranorthruppsychotherapy.com.
